What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might show valuable if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements change over time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, however it provides a flexible cushion, good edge assistance, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for numerous weeks in my own house. These mattresses were also examined in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed ratings of professionals in the mattress industry and in materials science; checked out lots of bed mattress display rooms, shops, and factories; and pored over the fine print on requirements, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.

Zenhaven ( all latex).
Saatva Latex Hybrid ( latex with coils).

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. We do know that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (rather of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress business, Saatva promotes such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spine support”; we’re less amazed with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and long lasting foams and coils.
