What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end bed mattress under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is fundamentally long lasting. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which might show practical if you’re not exactly sure what you prefer or if your requirements change over time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, but it uses a flexible cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness. Provided its natural durability, the Zenhaven must work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own home. These mattresses were likewise evaluated in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I’ve interviewed ratings of professionals in the bed mattress market and in products science; visited lots of bed mattress shops, showrooms, and factories; and read the fine print on specifications, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for numerous weeks.

Loom & Leaf ( all foam).
Zenhaven ( all latex).
Saatva Latex Hybrid ( latex with coils).

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. But we do know that the company uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (rather than fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress companies, Saatva promotes such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spine support”; we’re less pleased with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and durable foams and coils.
